By: Tina on January 26, at pm Thank you so much for this! You posted lots of great info! Especially since i read many post saying the Kaplan book is not helpful. Anyway i was just wondering is there any conversion questions? I had the same problem finding info on the test. I honestly do not remember if conversions were given so just be sure you know basic ones, inches, feet, kiligrams, etc. The math really is pretty basic. I hope you do great! By: Ingrid on August 25, at pm Reply Your blog post is such a blessing. It is almost am right now and I take the Kaplan at 9am. I have been killing myself studying because the stupid practice tests had so many genetics and physics questions on them… I have never taken physics and have been in a complete panic!! Same thing with the math… I have been cramming to try and relearn all the geometry formulas my algebra is on point.

I feel like from what your posts says, that the practice tests are actually very misleading and cause us to study the wrong material. Thank you again!! By: Elizabeth on August 25, at am I hope it goes well for you, Elizabeth. Let me know if you get the chance! By: Ingrid on August 25, at pm how did yours go.. Just wondering which book will be great to work on the Math section, this will be my second time taking the exam and I get stuck on the math section, I do know fractions and decimals and percentages however there were a few nursing word problems which I was stuck on those.

Any recommendations? By: hanna on October 8, at pm Reply Hanna, I would just recommend the basic Kaplan book for math. I am not sure where you can find more word problems, but they usually trick you by hiding basic functions in a lot of wording. That was my experience, anyway. I hope the second time goes well! By: Ingrid on October 13, at pm This helped me so much!!!! By: Ingrid on October 13, at pm Reply Do you by chance remember what kinds of questions were on the science section? This will be my second time taking it and I am no where confident like the first time. Do you have any suggestions for me?

Did you think that the practice test were much harder than the actual? Also, for the math was the fractions, decimals, etc. By: Lisa on January 3, at pm Reply I did think that the practice tests were more difficult, Lisa. And yes, the math problems were in word problems. By: Ingrid on January 5, at pm What did you study for the writing portion? And what is a good score? By: McKayla on January 23, at pm Reply A percent is the highest, and the scores depend on the school….

Thank you! By: Ingrid on March 15, at pm Reply Hey Ingrid, l have taken the Kaplan before, I dont Know you remember the math Word problem about something like there was two-third women and one-fourth old as well as one-fifth men, etc how many were old and men? That was the only math question I got wrong. By: Shae on March 18, at am I am not remembering that question! I think I would try to change them all to the same common denominator and solve once everything was on an even playing field. By: Ingrid on March 18, at pm yes, i had that question also and what I did also.

By: cat on February 8, at am Hi, how are you? Thank you for sharing this information. It is helpful. I am going to take the Kaplan test at the end of this year in December and I am studying for the exam now to enter the Nursing program. Because we are in a rural area I do not believe that the program is as competitive as the programs I looked into when we lived in Michigan. I know that it varies depending on the area.

It was so poorly written! By: Mag on October 27, at am May I ask how you did on the test? By: Jeff on January 10, at pm Reply I am scheduled to take my test next week and I am having such a hard time with studying for the science portion because it is so broad. Do you have any tips on what systems I should really focus on? I have been scouring the internet looking for guidance on what to study. Hopefully you could update your post after you take the test. Good luck to you. By: Jeff on January 10, at pm Reply i took the test last weekend, the reading portion was easy enough.

What i do is read the question, then read the article.. By: Jeff on January 10, at pm Reply Your post is spot on. I took it last weekend and did okay but the Writing and Science were my lowest. If you have retaken it, is it different sets for each sections or is it the same test?

  • KAPLAN Admission Exam

March 25, With just recently taking the Kaplan Nursing entrance exam, I understand going into the test can be intimidating. It is hard not knowing what to expect and trying to figure out what exactly is going to be on the exam. Thus, I decided I wanted to give more information on the exam, what it is like, and what to expect throughout each section. The test allows 45 minutes per section, however, once you hit 45 minutes you must go onto the next section. If you do finish with a section early you are able to go over your answers or move onto the next section but once you do move onto the next section you cannot go back and change your answers.

The test consists of 91 questions and is all multiple choice. There are no scheduled breaks however if you have time leftover in a section, instead of going onto the next section you are allowed to go to the bathroom, drink water, eat a snack, etc. The test usually takes place at a designated facility with a proctor and computer to take your test alongside other students. My Kaplan test was all online and was proctored by a professor.

For the math section, you are given a calculator and scratch piece of paper. My exam was set up this way and it is important to talk with your testing center to see if things differ or there are any additional rules needed to be followed during your exam. The reason I recommend taking the online ACT and SAT practice tests for reading is that it gets you comfortable with analyzing long passages on a computer as well as allows you to understand the mistakes you made and why you made them a little more informatively.

Another tip I would recommend is using a scratch piece of paper to write down the main concept of the passage that way when you are hung up on a question you can always differ back to the topic and make an informed guess if you get stuck. For this section what I found works best for me was doing the Kaplan Nursing Entrance Exam Practice Math questions all first, then reviewing the answers to see which ones I missed. The ones I missed I would find youtube videos through Khan Academy to help explain how to solve the equations correctly. I find this is more helpful than trying to read why you got the answer wrong and helps with retention for your test later on.

The one on your phone is an accurate representation of the calculator used on the test. And the answer choices are A. On the exam, you were given passages that were all nearly a page in length. The passages were very choppy and hard to read as is, and then on top of that, you are to find the mistakes, analyze nouns, verbs, pronouns, conjunctions ect.
  • Kaplan’s Admissions Test | BRCC, Virginia

It was the hardest portion for me because as I was reading the passages, I thought every sentence needed to be rewritten… not just the ones that they were asking to rewrite. I have watched a lot of youtube videos stating that you need to take anatomy and physiology 1 and 2 as well as microbiology in order to understand the science portion. Now although those classes may help, they are absolutely not necessary for taking the exam. In fact, I had only taken Anatomy and Physiology 1 and still needed to go back and refresh for this exam because I had forgotten about some of the things that they were asking for. Some of the things I did take away from the booklet were Osmosis and Diffusion, as well as the 3 main compartments of fluid, but other than that the test was mainly Anatomy and Physiology and consisted of many different components.
